Grasping foreign languages and cultures should be a core tenet of our interconnected world. University-level language studies enable students to comprehend people, traditions, and historical narratives through their native tongues. This academic pursuit also allows for a wider perspective on one's own linguistic and cultural background.Within the School of Modern Languages, students learn from specialists across seven language disciplines and Comparative Literature, with research spanning from medieval times to contemporary subjects.
The MPhil program blends coursework with research. Students complete two semesters of full-time instruction (or equivalent part-time) with evaluations, followed by a maximum 40,000-word thesis. This research project is developed during summer and the subsequent year, with submission required by the conclusion of the second academic year.
