The MPhil is a two-year program tailored for students and professionals holding a degree in Chemistry or a related field. The first year consists of structured coursework, while the second year is dedicated entirely to research. Over these two years, participants receive comprehensive theoretical training in Chemistry while honing advanced research abilities through two key projects:
a summer research initiative in Year 1, concluding with a 15,000-word thesis, followed by a year-long research endeavor in Year 2 resulting in a dissertation not exceeding 60,000 words. This program is ideal for those seeking to deepen their chemical knowledge and enhance their research capabilities. Many graduates pursue PhD studies after completing the MPhil.
MPhil: typically spans two years. Year 1 combines academic instruction with a research component, while Year 2 involves intensive research culminating in a 60,000-word dissertation.
Chemistry plays a pivotal role in addressing two critical 21st-century challenges: (i) ensuring reliable energy sources and (ii) reducing dependence on unsustainable fossil fuels. Key solutions involve (i) advancing renewable energy production and storage systems, and (ii) creating sustainable approaches that refine current methods and utilize renewable materials. Our Energy, Environmental, and Sustainable Chemistry research leverages specialized knowledge in electrochemistry, novel materials, spectroscopy, molecular structure, catalysis, computational methods, and gas separation to address these pressing issues.
