The MPhil program blends coursework with research components. Students complete two semesters of full-time instruction (or equivalent part-time) with assessments, followed by a summer and subsequent year dedicated to preparing a thesis not exceeding 40,000 words, due by the second academic year's end. In our interconnected world, proficiency in foreign languages and cultural understanding stands as essential skills. University-level language studies enable direct engagement with people, traditions, and historical narratives through their native tongues. Such study also allows for broader contextualization of one's own linguistic and cultural background. Within the School of Modern Languages, learners collaborate with specialists across seven language disciplines and Comparative Literature, where scholarly work spans medieval to contemporary eras through diverse thematic lenses.
