This program is designed to offer Scottish students with potential the chance to study at St Andrews, particularly those who have faced disadvantages preventing them from achieving the top grades typically required. It focuses on individuals from secondary schools with historically low higher education enrollment rates and those residing in areas identified by the Scottish Index of Multiple Deprivation. Participants will engage in advanced, research-focused studies in Physics and Astronomy (Gateway), gaining insight into how knowledge is developed and advanced. The curriculum fosters independent learning, emphasizing curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 60 months, this program culminates in a Master in Physics (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 600 credits (typically 120 per year). The initial two years combine core program-specific modules with optional courses, sometimes including interdisciplinary options. Later years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program.
