This program offers an in-depth exploration of Psychology and Statistics (accredited by the British Psychological Society) at a research-intensive level, where students learn how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic rigor, and ethical scholarship. Spanning 48 months, the course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years focus on mandatory program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty choices). The final years emphasize advanced, research-driven study through specialized curriculum modules. The first two years combine core program requirements with a selection of optional modules (potentially from other Faculties), while the later stages concentrate on tailored, research-oriented coursework.
