This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (German and Russian) and International Relations through research-focused instruction, enabling students to grasp how knowledge evolves and progresses. Participants will develop a passion for self-directed learning characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic excellence. Spanning 60 months, the course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years focus on mandatory program-specific courses alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty offerings). Subsequent years emphasize specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core subjects with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later stages concentrate on advanced, program-aligned research modules.
