This program offers advanced study in Modern Languages (French and Spanish) and Latin, focusing on research-driven learning where students explore how knowledge evolves and advances. It fosters independent study with an emphasis on curiosity, precision, and academic excellence. Spanning 60 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options (sometimes from other Faculties), while the later years focus on specialized, research-oriented coursework. The first two years blend core subjects with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), followed by advanced, discipline-focused research modules in subsequent years.
