This combined program involves rigorous, research-oriented study of Modern Languages (French and Italian) alongside Ancient History, fostering an appreciation for how knowledge evolves through scholarly inquiry. Students will develop skills for autonomous learning characterized by intellectual curiosity, academic integrity, precision, and scholarly rigor. Spanning 48 months, this program culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews degree programs, it follows a modular credit system requiring completion of 480 credits (typically 120 credits annually). The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (potentially including interdisciplinary modules), while subsequent years focus on advanced, research-intensive study tailored to the program's specialized curriculum.
