This program offers an in-depth exploration of Modern Languages (Arabic and Italian) and Latin at an advanced, research-focused level, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves and progresses. Participants will develop a passion for self-directed learning characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years feature core program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty choices). Subsequent years emphasize advanced, research-driven study through specialized curriculum modules. The first two years combine mandatory program courses with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years focus on tailored, research-oriented coursework.
