The MA (Hons) in Mathematics program equips students to decipher intricate patterns and structures while cultivating analytical techniques. These patterns may pertain to physical, biological phenomena, or mathematical frameworks themselves, with the core objective being to characterize, classify, and comprehend the underlying processes. This course combines Mathematics with Russian studies, including an integrated year abroad, delivered at an advanced, research-intensive level where students explore how knowledge is generated, developed, and refreshed. The curriculum fosters independent scholarship among all participants, promoting inquisitive learning with precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 60 months, this program culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews offerings, it comprises credit-based modules requiring 540 credits total, typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years focus on program-specific core modules alongside elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty courses), while subsequent years emphasize specialized, research-driven advanced studies.
