This program offers an in-depth exploration of Mathematics and Philosophy through research-focused study, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years focus on core program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years emphasize advanced, research-driven education through specialized coursework. The first two years combine mandatory program modules with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years concentrate on tailored, research-oriented studies.
