This program offers advanced study of Italian and Spanish through research-focused coursework, enabling students to explore how knowledge evolves and advances. Participants will develop skills in independent learning, characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules requiring 480 credits total, typically 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (potentially including cross-faculty modules). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core disciplinary modules with diverse electives (sometimes from other faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, program-specific research learning.
