This program offers advanced, research-focused study of Italian and Latin, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven modules tailored to the program. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially spanning multiple Faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
