The MA (Hons) in Greek is a four-year program offered by the School of Classics. Beginners start with introductory Greek language and literature, while those with prior experience take advanced language and literature courses combining textual analysis with translation practice. Second-year students unify to explore Greek literature's historical context, examining both prose and poetry from ancient to imperial times while enhancing language skills for Honors-level work. Additional support is available for those who began as novices. This curriculum involves advanced study of Greek and Hebrew through research-focused learning, fostering independent scholarship marked by curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. The 48-month Master of Arts (Honours) degree requires completing 480 credits (typically 120 annually). Initial years combine program-specific core courses with elective options (sometimes cross-disciplinary), while later years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework.
