This program offers advanced study of German, Persian, and Spanish through research-focused coursework, enabling students to explore how knowledge evolves and advances. Participants will develop skills in independent learning characterized by curiosity, academic integrity, precision, and rigorous scholarship. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-bearing modules requiring 480 credits total, typically completed at 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (potentially including cross-faculty modules). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program's academic focus. The first two years blend core disciplinary requirements with diverse elective choices (sometimes incorporating modules from other faculties), while later years emphasize advanced, program-specific research learning.
