This program offers advanced, research-focused study of German, Italian, and Persian, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 48 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty courses). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven modules that deepen subject expertise. The first two years blend core program requirements with diverse elective choices (potentially spanning multiple faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
