This program offers an in-depth exploration of German and Social Anthropology through research-focused studies, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge is developed, expanded, and revitalized. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years feature core program-specific modules alongside elective options, which may include interdisciplinary courses. The final years focus on advanced, research-driven education through specialized modules tailored to the program. The first two years combine mandatory courses with a selection of electives, potentially from other faculties, while the later years concentrate on program-specific, research-oriented studies.
