This program offers advanced study of German and Italian through research-focused coursework, enabling students to explore how knowledge evolves and advances. Participants will develop skills in independent learning, characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, the curriculum leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 480 credits (typically 120 per year). The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options, potentially including interdisciplinary selections. The final years focus on specialized, research-driven modules tailored to the program's academic focus. The first two years blend core subjects with various electives (sometimes from other faculties), while subsequent years emphasize advanced, discipline-specific research learning.
