The MA (Hons) in Latin is a four-year program offered by the School of Classics. Beginners will start with introductory Latin language and literature, while those with prior experience will engage in advanced language and literary studies during their first year, combining text analysis with translation practice. Second-year students further develop their expertise in Latin literature across different historical periods while enhancing language proficiency for higher-level studies. This rigorous course combines French and Latin studies at an advanced, research-oriented level, fostering independent learning with precision and academic discipline. Spanning 60 months, the Master of Arts (Honours) degree requires completion of 540 credits, typically 120 per year. The initial two years feature core program modules alongside elective options, while subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework.
