As an MA (Hons) French student, you'll refine your language and communication abilities to an advanced proficiency level. The program offers exploration of specialized subjects such as French linguistics, literature, cultural studies, history, political science, and cinema. In your third year, you can participate in study abroad opportunities at one of the University's Erasmus partner institutions in France. This curriculum combines advanced French and Hebrew studies with research-focused learning, enabling students to comprehend how knowledge evolves and progresses. The program fosters independent scholarship characterized by inquisitiveness, precision, academic discipline, and ethical rigor. Spanning 60 months, this course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it comprises credit-based modules requiring 540 credits total, typically 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years feature compulsory program-specific modules alongside elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty courses), while subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven advanced studies.
