This program offers advanced, research-focused study of English and Spanish, enabling students to explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among all participants, emphasizing curiosity, integrity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 60 months, the course leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits total, typically earning 120 credits per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific modules with elective options (sometimes including interdisciplinary Faculty selections). Subsequent years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework tailored to the program. The first two years blend core program modules with diverse electives (potentially from other Faculties), while later years concentrate on advanced, program-specific research learning.
