The MA (Hons) in International Relations is a four-year program offered by the School of International Relations. During the initial two years, students examine fundamental theories and frameworks in International Relations, analyze foreign policy development and its connection to global security, and assess how theoretical perspectives apply to contemporary political issues worldwide. This curriculum includes advanced, research-focused study of Biblical Studies and International Relations, helping students comprehend how academic knowledge evolves and progresses. The program fosters independent scholarship characterized by inquisitiveness, ethical standards, precision, and academic excellence. Spanning 48 months, this course culminates in a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews degree programs, it consists of credit-based modules requiring students to complete 480 credits (typically 120 credits annually). The first two years generally combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes including cross-faculty modules), while subsequent years focus on specialized, research-oriented study within the discipline.
