This program offers advanced study in Arabic and Comparative Literature alongside French, with a research-focused approach that explores how knowledge evolves and progresses. Students will develop skills in independent learning, characterized by curiosity, precision, and academic rigor. Spanning 48 months, it leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring 480 credits total—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years combine mandatory program-specific courses with elective options (sometimes from other Faculties), while the later years focus on specialized, research-driven coursework. The curriculum structure repeats this pattern: foundational core and optional modules in early years, followed by advanced program-tailored studies in subsequent years.
