This program offers advanced study of Arabic and German, combined with an Integrated Year Abroad, focusing on research-driven learning where students explore how knowledge is developed, expanded, and refreshed. It fosters independent learning among students, promoting curiosity, precision, academic integrity, and rigorous thinking. Spanning 60 months, it leads to a Master of Arts (Honours) degree. Like all St Andrews programs, it consists of credit-based modules, requiring students to complete 540 credits—typically 120 per academic year. The initial two years feature core program-specific modules alongside optional courses (sometimes including interdisciplinary options). The later years provide specialized, research-oriented modules tailored to the program. The first two years combine mandatory program courses with electives (potentially from other faculties), while subsequent years focus on advanced, program-specific research learning.
