Enhance your expertise in advanced health evaluation, diagnosis, and both independent and supplementary prescribing. This Postgraduate Certificate (PGCert) program caters to UK-registered nurses, midwives, and allied health professionals (including pharmacists) seeking qualification as non-medical prescribers. Ideal for those pursuing specialized or advanced clinical positions, this PGCert will elevate your professional capabilities.
You'll acquire skills to:
formulate clinical decisions incorporating research evidence, expert insights, legal/ethical considerations, and patient perspectives
exercise significant professional independence when addressing risk, complexity, and uncertainty as a non-medical prescriber
provide targeted care for patients with both diagnosed and undiagnosed conditions
apply comprehensive assessment, diagnostic, therapeutic, and decision-making competencies in your prescribing role
This program prepares you for clinical practice with greater independence in roles demanding patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
Eligibility requires employment in an appropriate clinical setting with access to medical support and mentorship from experienced Advanced Clinical Practitioners.
Nurses and midwives must secure supervision from an experienced prescriber within their field (or from a pharmacist/physician), plus assessment by a mid-level or senior physician. Allied Health Professionals require a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP), who must be a qualified physician.
