Transform young lives by training to become a certified teacher through our PGCE Secondary programs. Select from 8 core subject areas as you embark on an exceptional teaching pathway, rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted.
Course participants will acquire:
hands-on classroom experience via placements at 2 partner schools
specialized instruction from university tutors who are seasoned educators in their fields
cutting-edge teaching methods grounded in educational research, leveraging expertise from a leading UK School of Education and its network of schools
Your primary placement begins in September with support from an experienced teacher mentor. They'll tailor your development plan according to your initial skill level. Upon completing the program in June, you'll be fully prepared to handle a new teacher's workload. The course includes training at a different school to help you appreciate diverse educational environments.

Qualification Requirements
Youll need:
a 2:2 degree (UK honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant subject
strong subject knowledge
GCSEs (minimum grade 4/C) in English language and maths
If you don't have the required GCSEs we'll ask you at the offer stage to take equivalency tests. You'll need to cover the cost of the tests yourself.
You dont need experience in a school before you start this course, but we do recommend you spend some time in a classroom to improve your understanding the role of a teacher.
Please also provide full details of subjects and level of any Access or other qualifications you have.
If youre currently studying for one of the required qualifications, any place offered would be conditional on a successful outcome of this, or of a Southampton University equivalency test.
