Geophysics explores Earth's physical properties using scientific methods. You'll combine mathematics, physics, and geology, with optional studies in astronomy, geography, and archaeology. At Southampton, you'll study modern geophysics while developing expertise in geophysical techniques, geological analysis, and mathematical applications. The program emphasizes hands-on fieldwork and computational skills. Completing the full-time Foundation Year provides direct entry to any of 16 engineering, mathematics, physics, or geophysics degree programs. This preparatory year covers fundamental concepts in mathematics, mechanical science, engineering basics, and electrical principles. Through laboratory sessions and various projects, you'll enhance your analytical abilities and problem-solving skills. Throughout the Foundation Year, dedicated tutors will support your learning with personalized guidance and constructive feedback to advance your academic growth.
