At Southampton, our Philosophy and History program lets you examine the pivotal events and concepts that have influenced—and still influence—our world. History students can form their own perspectives on contested narratives spanning diverse eras, from Alexander the Great to New World slavery and the Space Age, with specialized topics like East/Central European history, South East Asian history, and Jewish history. The program stands out for its broad selection of philosophy topics, including non-Western traditions, and an extensive range of options in both disciplines. Small-group teaching fosters a welcoming atmosphere, while course content is enriched by the cutting-edge research of our faculty.
