This combined BA in Philosophy and English allows you to analyze key concepts through both philosophical and literary lenses. You'll expand your horizons with an international study year at a partner university. The program offers flexibility to explore diverse interests ranging from screenwriting to Islamic thought. Throughout your studies, you'll have opportunities to: examine fundamental philosophical concepts including morality, logic, and accountability, investigate philosophical and literary works across different historical periods and global contexts, from Norse sagas to 19th-century British novels, and from Asian to African traditions, delve into specialized topics such as medieval Islamic scholarship, ancient Indian thought, and literature of the Holocaust, participate in study abroad programs at affiliated universities, analyze controversial narratives, including discussions of race and identity in U.S. literary works.
