The BSc (Hons) Psychology with Counselling program merges psychological studies with integrative counseling methods, incorporating person-centered and compassion-focused techniques. Students will explore various therapeutic models such as cognitive, behavioral, and person-centered therapies before focusing on integrative methods. Note: This program differs from professional integrative counseling training (refer to our BA (Hons) Counselling and Therapeutic Practice for that pathway). Our BPS-recognized Psychology with Counselling degree provides a strong foundation for careers in social care. Graduates can pursue roles in clinical and counseling psychology, typically after gaining postgraduate experience and potentially completing Master's-level education. A distinctive feature is the practical experience integrated throughout the curriculum. Students will have access to on-campus clinical practice and various valuable opportunities, including specialized short courses, professional certifications, and work placements - all enhancing employability.
This Psychology with Counselling degree grants graduates the Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership with the British Psychological Society, qualifying them for advanced postgraduate training in specialized psychology fields (such as clinical, counseling, educational, forensic, health, occupational, or sport psychology). The program prepares students exceptionally well for social care careers. Furthermore, combining therapeutic knowledge with an accredited psychology degree offers distinct advantages for those aiming to become Psychological Well-Being Practitioners within the Improving Access to Psychological Therapies initiative.
