This Midwifery program encompasses all elements of routine midwifery practice, complex childbirth scenarios, and postpartum care. The curriculum also addresses broader topics including wellness initiatives, community health, legal and ethical considerations, and professional standards. As a hands-on vocation, practical skill development forms a crucial component of this midwifery education. During your training, you'll complete multiple clinical rotations across various regional healthcare providers, each spanning several weeks. To enhance career prospects, you'll cultivate expertise in delivering comprehensive care. These competencies will be developed through our on-campus Clinical Simulation Center and during specialized midwifery placements. Presently, Welsh Government funding covers tuition fees for UK students. Graduates become eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as fully qualified practitioners.
Midwifery professionals can practice in diverse healthcare environments, acquiring experience across all facets of maternal and infant care. Career progression offers multiple pathways: specializing clinically, becoming a consultant midwife, or moving into leadership positions such as head of midwifery services or regional supervisor. Some practitioners choose academic routes in teaching or research. The field has seen the emergence of specialized roles in areas like diagnostic imaging, fetal medicine, neonatal intensive care, community health programs, and parental guidance. International opportunities exist for midwives to work within EU nations and globally.
