If your current grades don't meet the direct entry requirements for the BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering program, you can begin with a foundation year. This additional year provides essential preparation to ensure your success in the degree program. It focuses on building your foundational knowledge in mechanics and mathematics - crucial subjects that form the basis of your engineering studies. During this year, you'll explore introductory topics related to the degree while enhancing your academic skills. Upon successfully completing the foundation year, you'll advance to the IMechE and Engineering Council-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree.
With a BEng in Mechanical Engineering, graduates can pursue careers across diverse fields including transportation, healthcare, defense, manufacturing, entertainment, design, or finance. Beyond core engineering knowledge, you'll develop valuable skills in management, computing, teamwork, design, project management, and communication - making you highly employable across industries. The degree also serves as a pathway to advanced Engineering PhD or Research programs. Discover more about Engineering Research opportunities at USW.
