This program offers hands-on experience by allowing you to study within a professional sports organization, significantly boosting your career prospects. To enroll, you'll need an established partnership with an English Football League Trust-affiliated sports club. While course materials are created by USW faculty, you'll complete your studies remotely at your club's training facility, with up to three annual Residential Study Visits to USW. Each student receives guidance from a Club Mentor who assists with learning and coordinates weekly placements. A distinctive feature is the substantial placement component: 4-8 weekly hours in your first year, increasing to 7-14 hours in subsequent years. These practical sessions primarily involve club operations, providing real-world exposure to sports business and management. Additional opportunities may arise through club sponsors and partners.
The BA (Hons) Sports Business and Management equips graduates for diverse leadership roles across the sports industry, developing transferable skills for various sports organizations. The work-integrated learning approach gives you three years to demonstrate your potential to employers (including your host club and their partners). Regular placements are facilitated by your Club Mentor, complemented by progress reviews with an Academic Development Officer from the English Football League Trust. Career pathways include positions at professional clubs, sports governing bodies, marketing agencies, hospitality firms, and roles in business management, digital marketing, sponsorship, operations, facility management, and sports entrepreneurship.
