Located at USW's dedicated Cardiff campus in the city's creative hub, this fashion design program provides real-world industry exposure while cultivating skills and values for post-graduation success. You'll develop critical design thinking and problem-solving abilities to tackle challenges in sustainability, commercial viability, and creative expression. Our philosophy embraces inclusivity and challenges fashion industry norms, celebrating fashion's power to provoke thought, drive innovation, and represent diverse perspectives. We nurture independent thinkers and innovators rather than followers - our alumni leverage fashion to confront issues like disability rights, social justice, labor equity, and environmental concerns across various career paths. The program features state-of-the-art studios mirroring professional environments, complete with industrial sewing equipment and cutting-edge digital design technology. This blend of hands-on and virtual design methods gives our students distinctive preparation for careers with major brands like Givenchy, Raeburn, and ASOS, or entrepreneurial ventures. Many graduates have launched successful labels, including Imatayaz Quassim, whose designs have been sported by celebrities like Justin Bieber and Gareth Bale. Our comprehensive curriculum produces versatile, industry-ready professionals equipped with diverse skills for all fashion sectors. USW's teaching approach offers exceptional preparation for future fashion leaders, with alumni making impacts globally across all market levels - from high-street retailers to luxury houses and cultural institutions like the BBC and Royal Shakespeare Company.
