This program is tailored for aspiring professionals looking to join the early childhood education sector. Developed in alignment with the Welsh Government's initiative to cultivate skilled, modern early years practitioners, you'll gain comprehensive knowledge about the growth and educational requirements of children aged 0-8 years. The curriculum covers diverse areas including developmental psychology, behavioral studies, mental health, and other crucial aspects. Your education will be enriched through specialized instruction, practical placements, and hands-on experience. A significant benefit for students is the program's accreditation by Social Care Wales. Upon completion, graduates earn Early Years Practitioner certification, a respected industry credential. Practical placements form the core of this program, enabling you to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios involving activity design, evaluation methods, and Welsh language acquisition. Over three years, you'll complete 700 hours of placements, providing substantial industry exposure and expertise.
An Early Years Education degree opens doors to numerous rewarding career opportunities post-graduation. Potential paths include positions in educational institutions like schools, nurseries, children's charities, and integrated care centers. Many graduates pursue PGCE qualifications to become certified teachers. Alumni have secured roles in early childhood environments, community project coordination, and charitable organizations. Additionally, students often obtain employment through their placement experiences, working as teaching assistants, one-on-one support specialists, or in Flying Start programs (with starting salaries ranging approximately £19,000-£21,000 annually).
