Every organization encounters the challenge of effectively analyzing and utilizing data. This course teaches core data science concepts and how to implement data-driven solutions in complex organizational and societal environments.
Develop a thorough understanding of data science theory and practice across various organizational settings. You'll master essential principles for ethically extracting insights from data. Real-world case studies demonstrate how these principles solve practical problems.
The program focuses on three critical data science components: core data principles, supporting infrastructure, and organizational implementation.
You'll acquire practical skills for managing structured and unstructured data, performing data analysis and visualization, and applying data mining techniques. Hands-on experience with industry-standard software prepares you for real-world applications. You'll develop the expertise of a data professional who knows when and how to apply algorithms (like those for data mining or big data processing) to create organizational value.
Throughout the program, you'll work with tools including R, Python, SPSS, Weka, and Tableau/Spotfire. While prior knowledge isn't required, familiarizing yourself with these tools beforehand could be beneficial. The course culminates with an in-depth research dissertation exploring your specific areas of interest.
