Your program will encompass both theoretical foundations and hands-on applications spanning the diverse field of electrical and electronic engineering. Key subjects in this curriculum feature power systems, power electronics, digital circuits, electrical components and systems, along with electromechanical devices and controls.
Gain expertise in creating, developing, and implementing the technologies and infrastructure that drive contemporary society through an electrical and electronic engineering degree.
From the generators in wind farms supplying energy grids to innovations like LED lighting and advanced computing chips, and from cutting-edge 5G networks to everyday electronic devices, these technologies form the backbone of modern civilization.
Throughout this three-year program, you'll investigate the engineering principles behind these technologies through comprehensive core studies and specialized elective options.
Practical learning forms the cornerstone of our approach. First-year students participate in the Global Engineering Challenge, tackling authentic engineering problems. Second-year students engage in an intensive industry-sponsored project called Engineering You're Hired, followed by opportunities for professional collaboration via the Sheffield Industrial Project Scheme's semester-long placements.
