As a research student, you'll receive guidance from two academic supervisors chosen for their expertise in your field. These supervisory relationships are crucial to your research journey, with regular meetings to exchange ideas and track progress. Additionally, a PhD tutor will provide general academic advice beyond research matters. The Doctoral Training in Economics (ECN610) fosters deep involvement in research culture while connecting you with fellow PhD students for collaborative learning. This program includes lectures, student workshops, individual reviews, and participation in research events both at the University (like Departmental Seminars) and externally (such as conferences).
The first year features structured coursework: an advanced econometrics module (covering micro- and macro-econometrics) and training in research methods for economists. Assessment includes a final exam for econometrics and a research proposal submission. Students may also audit master's-level courses relevant to their research interests.
