The University of Sheffield's MPlan program holds prestigious accreditation from both the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Additionally, our housing components are recognized by the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH), establishing the MPlan as the sole UK program with this triple accreditation distinction.

This master's program combines academic study with hands-on projects, field excursions, site inspections, and professional placements, providing a direct pathway to achieving Chartered Member status with the RTPI.

Spanning four years, the curriculum delivers both fundamental knowledge and addresses contemporary challenges like climate adaptation and urban disparities, offering comprehensive training in urban development, spatial transformation, and planning methodologies.

Beyond gaining practical experience through placements in planning offices or consultancies, students can pursue specialized interests via elective courses, international study opportunities in Europe, or extended study periods at our global partner universities.
Career Development Support - Our in-house employability specialists assist with securing internships, organize alumni networking events, and collaborate with industry leaders to align curriculum with market needs. They also provide career counseling and resume-building workshops.
Career-Focused Curriculum - Integrated throughout all four years, these specialized modules develop workplace competencies including collaborative project execution, conflict resolution, and leadership. They facilitate self-assessment of acquired skills and teach effective professional self-presentation techniques.
Flexible Study Options - Includes opportunities for international exchange programs and optional work placements
