Our foundational undergraduate program introduces you to the essential concepts of materials science and their practical applications in engineering contexts. You can maintain a broad curriculum or customize your studies through elective materials courses. The MEng program offers opportunities for direct industry engagement via placements and industry-focused projects, or you can pursue an in-depth research project within one of our renowned research teams.
Our core undergraduate curriculum explores the fundamental theories of materials science and their real-world implementation in engineering scenarios. You may opt for a general approach or specialize in later years by selecting optional materials courses.
Beyond traditional lectures and tutorials, you'll gain hands-on experience through practical work with modern manufacturing techniques and cutting-edge analytical tools. The program also facilitates industry connections, providing valuable workplace exposure.
Students have the flexibility to transfer between the BEng and MEng programs (subject to academic performance) upon completing their second year.
