Work alongside local and worldwide communities to reimagine urban planning and neighborhood layouts in this hands-on studio course.
The need for skilled urban designers continues to grow. Our program helps cultivate design abilities that connect to wider social, ecological, and financial frameworks, allowing you to bridge specific architectural works with comprehensive urban plans.

The studio project forms the heart of this course, where you'll partner with nearby communities while learning fundamental urban design principles. Choose from various thematic electives, participate in educational trips, and attend specialized workshops.

You'll analyze pressing urban challenges facing modern cities through critical evaluation. Compare Sheffield's urban spaces with diverse international settings across the UK, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America. Additionally, you'll study how both designers and residents contribute to shaping urban environments.
