Explore the mathematical and physical principles that shape our universe while enhancing your resume through practical work experience. Our students have applied their analytical and problem-solving abilities in diverse placements, from civil service data science roles to working with CERN's Large Hadron Collider team.
This program lets you delve into the fundamental mathematics and physics of the cosmos while gaining valuable professional experience. Students have leveraged their quantitative skills in various settings, including government data analysis positions and research with CERN's particle physics team.

During your initial two years, you'll master core physics concepts shared across all our programs, including quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, special relativity, and classical physics. You can expand your mathematical expertise through advanced courses in the School of Mathematics and Statistics, covering areas like calculus, geometry, differential equations, linear algebra, and fluid mechanics. This curriculum provides a deeper mathematical foundation than conventional physics degrees.

In hands-on laboratory sessions, you'll conduct experiments using state-of-the-art equipment to see theoretical principles in action. Programming courses equip you with skills vital for theoretical physics and various professional fields, from data analytics to software development. Elective modules allow you to specialize in areas like particle physics or acoustical science.
