The program's foundation year offers students with non-traditional entry requirements comprehensive academic preparation to ensure their success in degree-level studies within the School of Allied Health Professions, Nursing and Midwifery. After successfully finishing the foundation year, students will advance to the BMedSci Orthoptics program.
This preparatory year is thoughtfully structured to boost your confidence, cultivate crucial academic and learning techniques, and deliver specialized subject knowledge needed for achievement. You'll learn through the Department for Lifelong Learning, which brings nearly four decades of expertise in supporting mature students to realize their potential for higher education success.

Qualification Requirements

To be eligible to apply, you should:
Have been out of formal full-time Level 3 education (usually A-Levels or Access courses) for 2+ years
Have potential to succeed on your chosen course, evidenced by a combination of work, life and prior educational experience
Have an understanding and commitment to the subject-area of your chosen course
Be prepared for the demands that undergraduate degree level study will place upon you
Be 21 or over

A minimum GCSE grade D/3 in Mathematics (or equivalent) may also be required. A GCSE grade C/4 may be required for some science programmes.
