Prosthetists design and fit artificial limbs for individuals with partial or complete limb loss. Orthotists create and adjust braces and splints to support, correct, or enhance mobility for patients with neurological, muscular, or skeletal conditions. This program teaches assessment and treatment methods for prosthetic and orthotic patients. These specialists possess advanced skills in biomechanics, human movement, and gait analysis. The curriculum combines hands-on training with essential theoretical knowledge.
You will:
Develop skills to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients needing prosthetic or orthotic devices
Progressively build expertise in patient interaction, identifying requirements, and determining optimal treatments
Complete clinical rotations observing actual patients using their prosthetic and orthotic devices
