The BSc Building Surveying program equips you to evaluate building performance and material durability, identifying the root causes of structural issues. This degree prepares students for rewarding careers in building surveying, with the advantage of the Department's robust industry connections and professional surveying networks.
The program holds dual accreditation from both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Chartered Institute of Building. (Note: Accreditation undergoes regular review. Graduating from CIOB and RICS-accredited programs fulfills the academic criteria for professional membership.) Like all our construction-related programs, this course offers exposure to various disciplines before specialization in the final year. Students have the flexibility to switch to related degrees like BSc Quantity Surveying or BSc Construction Management after their second year. The curriculum strongly emphasizes developing transferable skills, and University of Reading alumni are recognized for quickly advancing to leadership roles in professional practices.
