The BSc Dental Therapy and Hygiene with Integrated Foundation Year caters to aspiring students who lack the necessary qualifications for direct entry into the undergraduate program's first year. This pathway builds essential scientific knowledge and cultivates the skills required to develop into a self-assured, reflective, and autonomous learner prepared for higher education challenges. Qualified Dental Nurses may find this program especially appealing.

The foundation year offers focused study in biomedical and life sciences that form the basis of the clinical BSc (Hons) Dental Therapy and Hygiene program, delivered in specialized facilities by expert educators before progressing to the main degree.
Develop skills for collaborative patient care through interdisciplinary learning alongside biomedical science, medical, and dental therapy students.
Benefit from tailored academic support through dedicated study skills workshops and personal tutoring to maximize your learning potential.
Customize your education by selecting specialized modules aligned with your professional interests.
Successful foundation year completion opens doors to an innovative clinical program featuring cutting-edge facilities operated by Peninsula Dental Social Enterprise (PDSE), a Community Interest Company. Additional information is available on the BSc Dental Therapy and Hygiene program page.
We especially encourage applications from practicing Dental Nurses seeking career advancement through dual qualification as Dental Therapists and Hygienists.
The foundation year is carefully structured to facilitate seamless transition to degree-level study, featuring profession-specific learning objectives and early exposure to assessment methods used throughout the program.

Full-time duration: 4 years (includes clinical placements).
