Explore the nature of crime and master investigative techniques by analyzing evidence at simulated crime scenes, culminating in presenting your conclusions to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). At Plymouth, your education goes beyond classroom theory. Participate in our innovative partnership with HMP Exeter, where students gain firsthand insight into prisoner rehabilitation, observe organizations like LandWorks and Victim Support, and collaborate with Devon & Cornwall Police.

Partner with regional and national justice organizations
Criminology students receive guidance from a specialized Employability and Community Engagement Officer who connects them with practical opportunities in criminal justice agencies. These experiences include networking events, career expert sessions, and participation in community projects led by justice sector leaders.

Through the Sustainable Social Justice Initiative, students and faculty collaborate with criminal and social justice partners on impactful projects. Past initiatives include creating awareness campaigns about online fraud with Devon and Cornwall Police, as well as developing creative social justice projects with local artists in underserved communities.

Build practical skills during your studies

Our final-year Work Based Learning module offers flexible options to boost career readiness while applying criminological expertise. Students can choose between professional placements, skill-building short courses, or research projects addressing real-world challenges with partner organizations.
