Become part of an institution tackling worldwide challenges. Our focus spans renewable energy, eco-friendly materials, and improved medical safety. We seek dedicated graduate researchers to collaborate on meaningful changes for both society and our planet.
Our key research areas include:
molecular interactions and spectral analysis
advanced materials
chemical synthesis and catalytic processes
biological chemistry studies
Opportunities exist for projects with faculty mentors across all disciplines.
One groundbreaking study addresses Campylobacter outbreaks in poultry production. Our team identified iron-based compounds demonstrating powerful antibacterial effects against this pathogen in chickens. As a leading source of foodborne illness from improperly cooked poultry, these compounds show promise for agricultural applications and are now in testing phases.
In another innovation, researchers transformed cellulose acetate from discarded cigarette filters into a highly porous carbon material. This novel substance exhibits exceptional hydrogen storage capabilities due to its remarkable surface area.
