Our globally recognized research in plant and crop sciences spans diverse disciplines. We place particular focus on deciphering the intricate molecular and biochemical processes that control key agricultural characteristics, including plant development and structure, responses to environmental pressures, seed development, and fruit maturation. Studies using model plants contribute to a pathway for introducing innovative plant characteristics into agricultural crops. Our crop research primarily targets essential cereal grains like wheat and rice, vegetable species including brassicas and tomatoes, as well as lesser-utilized crops such as bambara groundnut.
