Our research focuses on the intersection of music with various artistic mediums, while incorporating and advancing interdisciplinary approaches.

We accept diverse doctoral research proposals across multiple specializations. Our faculty consists of globally renowned experts in their respective areas. Prospective candidates should seek out potential supervisors to refine their research ideas. Typically completed in three years full-time or six years part-time (with an optional additional year for thesis completion and examination).

As a doctoral candidate, you will:

produce a comprehensive written dissertation (maximum 100,000 words) with guidance from faculty advisors
defend your research orally (viva voce) before an examination committee
have access to elective courses selected in collaboration with your supervisory team, including both music-focused and research methodology offerings.
